Masonry repair, from the chimney to the foundation

A lot of our work is on older homes: century houses, tired chimneys, stone that has to go back exactly as it was. Here is what we take on.

  1. 01

    Chimney repair and rebuilds

Caps, repairs and upper chimneys rebuilt, full teardowns and rebuilds when a chimney is past saving, and old chimneys nobody uses any more taken down brick by brick.

Chimney work is the job most reviewers called about.

  2. 02

    Heritage brick and lime mortar

Century homes need brick and mortar that match what is already there. When the original brick is no longer made, they keep looking until they find one that works.

Heritage brick and lime mortar are on their own list of specialties.

  3. 03

    Stone and brick work

Stone veneer, brick on a new addition, a window opening made larger, a decorative block wall in place of vinyl siding, fieldstone feature walls and fireplace surrounds.

Each of these comes from a job in their reviews or photos.

  4. 04

    Block foundations and parging

Block foundations, and parging that protects a foundation and makes it look new again, ICF foundations included.

Parging comes up again and again in their reviews.

  5. 05

    Stone skirts and sills

Stone skirts around the base of a house, new or old, and sills under windows and doors.

Named in their own list of services.

  6. 06

    Tuckpointing and mortar repair

Mortar joints repointed, mortar repairs, and cracks in brick walls repaired.

From the big and complex to even the “lyttle” ones, in their words.

Century homes and old brick

New brick that looks like it was always there

Heritage brick and lime mortar are on our own list of specialties for a reason. Old houses were built with materials that are made differently today, so a repair only disappears if the brick, the mortar and the pointing are matched to what is already on the wall.

“Since I have a century home, it was extra important as, from my understanding, modern materials are made differently and are harder to match with older homes. With Lyttle's this was a given.”

“Matching colors of OLD brick (no longer available) is one of the most important aspects of any brick job. This couple searched until they came up with an amazing new brick that worked perfectly.”
